A separate view of time
Moon phases are based on the changing appearance of the Moon, separate from Dreamspell and KIN. Maya 13 does not treat different systems as one; it places them side by side as ways to reflect on a day.
01
What is a Moon Phase?
A Moon Phase describes the changing portion of the Moon that appears illuminated from Earth. Maya 13 shows the Moon’s age, illuminated percentage, and phase name using its existing moon phase calculation.
02
How the Moon’s phases change
The Moon moves from one New Moon to the next in about 29.5 days, waxing to Full Moon and then waning again. Maya 13 represents this flow with eight phases: New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter, and Waning Crescent.
03
How it differs from KIN and Dreamspell
KIN and Dreamspell are the 260-day cycle and 13 Moon Calendar system used in Maya 13. A Moon Phase is a separate astronomical view of the changing Moon, not part of the same system.
04
How it differs from the 13 Moon Calendar
The 13 Moon Calendar is a calendar framework of thirteen Moons with twenty-eight days each, while a Moon Phase describes the Moon visible in the sky. Maya 13 displays both as distinct ways of noticing time.
